Therapy for real humans

Stop performing. Start discovering.

Therapy for people who are ready to stop performing and start discovering who they actually are.

Come as you are.

Maybe this is you.

You don't have to have it all figured out.

Maybe you know exactly what's going on but can't seem to change it. Or maybe you have absolutely no idea what's going on. You just know something feels off.

Maybe your life looks pretty good on paper, but you're not entirely sure who you are underneath it all. Maybe you've spent so much time being who everyone else needed you to be that you've never really stopped to ask what you want.

You don't need to understand your patterns, have the right words, or even know where to start. We can figure that out together.

Who I love working withI love working with people who are curious about themselves, and with people who have absolutely no idea where to begin. You don't need to have yourself figured out, know what you want, or arrive with some grand plan for personal growth. We can start wherever you are. I work with individuals navigating all sorts of things, including life transitions, neurodivergence, anxiety, identity, relationships, grief, self-forgiveness, and those bigger questions about who we are, what matters to us, and how we want to live.
In person or online.Come into the room, or stay wherever you’re most comfortable. We can do either.

This little light

There is something in you that was never broken. Sometimes life just teaches us to stop listening to it.

Maybe the work isn’t becoming more.

Maybe it’s remembering what’s already there.

My therapeutic values

How I see people
shapes how I work.

01

Humanity

See the person, not the problem.

You are a human being, not a project to be fixed. There is room here for complexity, contradiction, humour, messiness, and all the things that make you a person rather than a diagnosis.

02

Authenticity

Come back to who you actually are.

I'm less interested in helping you become a better version of yourself than in helping you uncover what's already there underneath conditioning, coping, expectations, and everyone else's ideas about who you should be.

03

Self-trust

Learn to hear yourself again.

You probably know more than you think you do. We make room for your instincts, your body, your wants, your boundaries, and that quieter knowing that can get drowned out by everyone else’s opinions.

04

Honesty

Tell the truth, kindly.

I’ll listen carefully, and I’ll challenge you when I think something is worth looking at. Not because I need to be right, but because sometimes the thing we’re avoiding is exactly where the useful work begins.

05

Permission

You don't have to perform here.

You can be messy, contradictory, angry, funny, uncertain, or completely unsure what you need. You don't have to show up as a good therapy client. You get to show up as yourself.

About Me

I’m a counsellor, ICU nurse, yoga instructor, performer at heart, and mother of four.

I spent 23 years working in the ICU, where I learned how to stay steady when things get intense. Yoga taught me to listen to the body. Being a performer taught me the value of humour, expression, curiosity, and saying the thing everyone is feeling but nobody has quite said yet. Being a mother has taught me a lot about myself, and a lot about how I relate to other people, and how much we can learn from each other.

I’m also neurodivergent, and that has shaped the way I understand people, systems, expectations, and the many ways we learn to move through the world.

Because I don't think you're broken.

I think most of us have gotten really good at fitting ourselves into boxes, family boxes, cultural boxes, diagnostic boxes, even therapy boxes. I’m not here to help you fit more comfortably inside yours.

I’m interested in what happens when you stop trying to fit and start getting curious about who you actually are underneath all the conditioning, coping and expectations.

I know this work personally.

I’ve spent a lot of my own life learning what happens when you lose yourself trying to be who you’re supposed to be.

I’ve worked through complex childhood trauma and abuse, untangled patterns that had been passed down through generations, and learned how much can change when you begin to see yourself, and your relationships, differently.

How I work

Less “therapy voice.” More actual human.

I don't use worksheets or sit taking notes while you talk. I'm present with you. I listen, I notice, I follow what's happening in the room, and I get curious. And, sometimes I swear.

CuriosityWe explore rather than assume.
EmbodimentThe body gets a say, too.
ChallengeI'll gently name what might be worth looking at.
HumourDeep work doesn't have to be miserable.

When I’m not counselling…

Basically, I like being alive.

I’m usually somewhere outside, writing something, singing loudly, dancing badly, or laughing with my four kids, who are considerably more extroverted than I am.

I spend a lot of time with my husband, including trips back to Nova Scotia. He’s a Maritimer, so unfortunately I’m required to visit Nova Scotia and look at the ocean every year. It’s a tough life. I’m also completely obsessed with the people there. And I spend plenty of time with our two beloved doodles.

I love delicious food, good friends, big laughs, movement, and the occasional reminder that I don’t take myself nearly as seriously as I probably should. I used to teach barre, I still love to move, and I have a fairly committed relationship with my infrared sauna.

Basically, I like being alive. Outside of counselling, that’s mostly what I’m up to.

The box thing

You don't need to fit into a better box.

Maybe you’ve spent a lot of your life trying to fit.

The good daughter. The successful one.The easy one.The strong one.The good partner. The good therapy client. The perfect son.

Maybe you’ve even tried to fit yourself into a diagnostic box, a cultural box, or a therapy box.

I'm not interested in helping you fit more comfortably inside yours.

I’m interested in what happens when you stop trying to fit and start getting curious about who you actually are underneath all the conditioning, coping and expectations.

Ready when you are

You don't have to know exactly what you need. We can start there.

Bring the thing that's been taking up too much space in your head. Bring the thing you can't quite name. Or just bring yourself.
